Save Blue Go Green!

Our Mission

The mission of the Blue Crew is to support and encourage our employees and guests to take responsibility in conserving our local, national and global environments.

Things we do every day:

  • The trash generated from the Aquarium goes to the Sevier County Solid Waste facility where it is composted.  The recycling rate at this facility is 70%.
  • We recycle paper, billboard vinyl, motor oil, motors, toner cartridges, ink jet printer cartridges and cell phones.
  • Cleaning products are bought in bulk/concentrate.
  • Plumbing fixtures in public areas and staff areas are designed for water saving.
  • Artificial seawater used throughout the Aquarium is recovered to the maximum extent possible using our Backwash Recovery System.
  • Lights are computer programmed and operated to ensure electrical power is not used unnecessarily.
  • The Life Support system is computer monitored and controlled.
  • HVAC system
  • Small appliances are turned off when not in use.
